The FPDC is a modern, 65,000 square foot pilot plant and product development laboratory equipped with more than $20,000,000 in equipment that supports food product innovation along the full development and commercialization continuum. Clients can access technical consultation, benchtop development, pilot plant development, scale-up, business development, applied research and interim processing services.
Through the Li Ka Shing Applied Virology Institute (LKSAVI), the LKSIoV further supports discoveries in vaccines, treatments, and diagnostic tests for viral and selected other diseases affecting humans. The institute has become a leader in using artificial intelligence (AI) for computational drug design. The acquisition of a Blue Gene/Q, the fastest supercomputer in Canada, allows for state-of-art drug design aimed at specific therapeutic targets in various diseases currently plaguing Canadians, as well as millions of people worldwide.

The Peter S. Allen MR Research Centre is 100% research dedicated, state-of-the-art facility of Department of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, University of Alberta. It is a home of two full-body MRI systems (3T Siemens Prisma, and 4.7T) backed by a group of very skilled and enthusiastic professionals and provides a wide range of possibilities in magnetic resonance research and clinical research applications.
