July 18th, 2023 (Edmonton, AB) — Today, Ciba Health, a digital health platform, announced its expansion into the Edmonton region. Already incorporated in Alberta, the company plans to hire up to 20 employees in the first year in Alberta and double the size of the team in the second year of operations. This company’s technology will play a role in reducing hospital visits and increasing R&D opportunities for the life sciences sector in the region. This expansion was supported by Alberta Innovates and Edmonton Global.
The life sciences sector holds a lot of potential to grow and diversify the economy of the Edmonton region by creating new jobs and capitalizing on the strong research and development coming out of our post-secondary institutions. Additionally, the Edmonton region’s expertise in AI creates a lot of opportunities at the crossover of AI and health. Ciba Health will be another demonstration of how these technologies are being utilized to improve patient care and increase efficiencies in the health system.
Established in New York in 2020, Ciba Health is an online patient care platform that integrates a precision medicine approach with AI. The platform delivers a personalized healthcare experience that treats, reverses, and prevents chronic conditions. With its multiproduct platform and unique methodology, Ciba Health covers several conditions: advanced primary care, prediabetes, obesity, type 2 diabetes, digestive health, depression, and anxiety. Launching operations in Edmonton, the company will bring expertise in health, AI, and innovation.
Ciba Health has chosen the Edmonton region due to its well-developed health and life science sector and its potential to scale their growth across North America. Ciba currently employs 52 team members from across the United States and Ukraine in addition to an established subsidiary in the UAE.
Ciba Health’s new office will initially be located at the Health Innovation Hub in downtown Edmonton and will be looking at other office locations as their team expands.
Since late 2022, Alberta Innovates, Plug and Play Alberta and Edmonton Global have been working to support Ciba Health’s expansion plans by providing insights about the local business landscape and making valuable introductions to service providers and partners.
