Edmonton Global releases 2023 Annual Report – Making an Impact

On Monday, May 6 Edmonton Global released our 2023 annual report to the public.

In the report, we highlighted the impact of Edmonton Global’s work on the Edmonton Metropolitan Region last year. Since 2018, Edmonton Global, alongside our partners have been working to radically transform and grow the Edmonton region’s economy. Through showcasing the advantages of the Edmonton region to international investors, as well as helping local businesses expand internationally, we continue to help the Edmonton region’s economy thrive.

14 investments, $250 million, and nearly 600 jobs

In 2023, Edmonton Global supported 14 investments, totalling over $250 million in capital expenditure (CAPEX) and creating almost 600 jobs across the region.

2023 notable impacts

Some of our most notable success stories of 2023 include:

• In 2023, the Canadian Critical Drug Initiative led by API was announced. This $200 million project will significantly grow the region’s drug manufacturing capabilities.
• English Bay Blending announced its decision to expand and move from Delta, British Columbia to Stony Plain, alongside a $30 million investment towards building a new food manufacturing facility.
• Edmonton Global launched its trade strategy, Access Export, helping local businesses expand internationally through trade and export.
• Edmonton Global announced the 5,000 Hydrogen Vehicle Challenge, which is aimed at getting 5,000 hydrogen or dual-fuel vehicles on the roads in Western Canada in the next five years.
• The Canadian Hydrogen Convention doubled its attendees in 2023 from 2022 with over 8,000 delegates from more than 70 countries.

Looking ahead

Moving into 2024, Edmonton Global will continue to work alongside our partners to radically transform the economy of the Edmonton region. By attracting international investment into the region, and helping local businesses expand to global markets, we’ll continue to build toward a sustainable and prosperous economic future.
