Edmonton Global welcomes Conny Avila as VP of Marketing & Communications

Edmonton Global is pleased to announce the appointment of Conny Avila as Vice President of Marketing & Communications, effective February 18, 2025.

Conny brings a wealth of experience in stakeholder engagement, strategic leadership and innovation, having led significant initiatives across healthcare, government and the private sector. She holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and certifications in Lean Six Sigma, change management and project management. A mission-driven leader, Conny is passionate about fostering economic growth, innovation and investment in the region.

Conny’s career includes pivotal roles at Covenant Health, where she most recently served as Head of Communications, Marketing & Engagement. Her previous positions at Covenant include Chief Innovation Officer and Director of External Relations. In these roles, Conny played a key part in shaping Covenant’s strategic direction, building strong partnerships and leading transformative initiatives. Her leadership helped drive major projects that aligned with the Government of Alberta’s vision for healthcare transformation and the delivery of high-quality care to Albertans.

Originally from Germany, Conny immigrated to Edmonton in 2008 after completing a work term with the Government of Alberta. She instantly recognized the region’s unique combination of economic opportunity and strong community values and it became her home.

“The Edmonton Region has been my home for more than 15 years and I am deeply invested in its growth and success,” said Conny. “I’ve spent my career bringing people and organizations together to drive meaningful change and I’m excited to bring that experience to Edmonton Global. Economic development is about collaboration and I look forward to working with our partners to build momentum and amplify the incredible opportunities in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.”
