End of Year Messages

December 20, 2018

2018 year end messages from John Day, Board Chair, and Malcolm Bruce, CEO, of Edmonton Global.

Message from John Day

Board Chair, Edmonton Global

We’ve had a great first year at Edmonton Global -- we hit the ground running with our official formation in early 2018, and we haven’t stopped since. In April we hired our CEO, a key strategic decision that propelled us forward toward our public launch event in September. Since then, we’ve been hard at work putting the strategies we’ve developed into practice, working collaboratively as a region to show the world what we have to offer.

We’re excited to build on that momentum and keep growing the organization as we approach the new year. Reflecting on all that Edmonton Global has accomplished in 2018, I would like to give sincere thanks to our board members and to all of our partners across the region who have contributed to our success to date. I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for 2019.

Message from Malcolm Bruce

CEO, Edmonton Global

Since I joined Edmonton Global as CEO in July of 2018, we’ve made great strides in fulfilling our mission. This year, we established a Strategic Plan to guide our work, identified our four key economic sectors, and connected with stakeholders, trade partners and potential investors across the globe. We’ve also begun to shape our permanent staff team, ensuring we have the right people on board to advocate for our region on the world stage. In the coming year, we’ll turn our focus to developing our trade & investment division, building our regional brand, and refining how we tell our region’s story to the world. 2019 will also bring the implementaiton of our  FDI and Trade strategy.

During the Christmas season, all of us are called to rekindle our spirit of community, collaboration and gratitude. In that spirit, I would like to thank all of our member municipalities, partners, staff and supporters for pulling together as a region to make an impact this past year. We are stronger together, and I know we will accomplish great things in 2019. Merry Christmas to all, and a happy New Year!

In lieu of sending cards, we have made a $250 donation to Youth Empowerment and Support Services (YESS).
